Maria's Community Service Project
Community Project Food Bank
of New Jersey
On April 7, 2018, I went to the Food Bank of New Jersey to help in some way with one of the biggest issues in the world the, HUNGER. I chose this program because I can help people in my area that are in need of the most basic life necessity, NOURISHMENT. By donating just a few hours of our time, we can make a big difference. I arrived at 11:00 AM and after a brief orientation, I learned the process of packaging of the food, beauty items and cleaning products. When companies donate these products to the Food Bank, they arrive in a huge cardboard boxes. They have to be sorted out by category. They then have to be repackaged into small boxes to have them ready in case of an emergency around the world or to be distributed to food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens.
Having chosen to volunteer at the Food Bank has left me with a wonderful experience because I was able to contribute a little to those people whose income is very low and are unable to obtain the this basic need "NOURISHMENT".
